Cookie & Analytics Notice

1. Our approach

VillaVerify is built to need as few cookies as possible. We use Umami, a self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics tool, instead of third-party advertising or tracking analytics (such as Google Analytics). Umami runs on infrastructure we control. Usage data is not shared with an ad-tech or analytics company.

2. What Umami does and doesn't do

Umami records aggregate, anonymised usage statistics (for example page views, referring sites, general device/browser type, and approximate country-level location) to help us understand how the site is used and improve it. It does not set persistent tracking cookies to follow you across sites, does not build an advertising profile of you, and does not collect information that identifies you personally.

3. Other strictly necessary technical storage

The only strictly necessary technical storage we currently use is one cookie of our own, named NEXT_LOCALE. It remembers the language you are using, contains only a language code (for example en), and expires when you close your browser. It is set when you switch language, or when you open a page in a different language from your browser's language setting. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

4. Why we don't show an intrusive cookie banner

Under Spanish and EU rules, a consent banner is required mainly for cookies or similar technologies that are not strictly necessary (most commonly, tracking/advertising cookies). Because our analytics (Umami) is not a tracking cookie and does not collect personal identifiers, and any other technical storage we use is strictly necessary for the site to work, we do not currently display a full cookie-consent banner.

5. Your controls

You can block or delete cookies and similar storage at any time through your browser settings. Doing so is unlikely to affect your ability to use the checker, since we don't rely on tracking cookies for core functionality; it may reset any saved language preference.
